Czech Airlines
Professor Mejstřík in 2009 – 2014 significantly contributed as special envoy of the Czech Minister of Finance to the restructuring of the Czech Airlines and the Prague airport and led (succesfully) the negotiating team on state aid to Czech Airlines in Brussels. He presented this topic on the soil of the Czech National Bank at the 5th Restructuring Forum 2016. You may find his presentation here (in Czech only).
Mr. Mejstrik was the (restructuring) Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Czech Airlines (CSA 2009-2011), the founding Chairman of the Supervisory Board of 100% state-owned Czech Aeroholding,a.s. (2011- 2014) restructuring all subsidiaries on pioneering unbundling principles and special envoy of the Czech Minister of Finance for (successful) negotiation with the European Commission on airlines state aid (2012 – 2014).
Czech Aeroholding, whose sole shareholder is the state (represented by the Ministry of Finance), is a distinguished national group of companies operating in air transport and related ground services at the international airport in the Ruzyne part of Prague. The Czech Aeroholding Group encompasses Prague Airport, the operator of the international Václav Havel Airport Prague, originally most of shares of Czech Airlines (only until 2016), Czech Airlines Technics – a company providing technical aircraft maintenance services, Czech Airlines Handling – a company responsible for the ground handling of aircraft and passengers. The individual companies grouped in Czech Aeroholding can then fully focus on their core business, having their administrative services centralized. All of them are commercially independent and maintain equal conditions to all business partners.
As a special envoy of Ministry of Finance team Mr. Mejstrik led successful two-years negotiation with European Commission on state aid and restructuring of CSA and unbundled structure of newly founded Czech Aeroholding that was his pioneering contribution inspired by energy sector restructuring. Mr. Mejstrik mission was successfully accomplished after successful sale process of 44% Czech Airlines shares to Korean Air in 2013-2014, when Moody’s assigned to Czech Aeroholding excellent A3 issuer rating on May 21st 2014.
