The Navigator of Responsible Lending

(joint research project of EEIP and Charles University)

On November 2015 EEIP presented key findings of the project  and highlighted that the Czech consumer loan market is divided into two heterogeneous groups. The first group encompasses „safe creditors“ that are relatively strongly regulated, transparent and play fair game with their customers. The second group includes ”loan sharks”, i.e. creditors with poor regulation, low transparency and dubious  practices. The research was done on 107 consumer loans from 69 loan creditors and providers in the Czech Republic.

The Navigator of responsible lending was launched in 2011 as a pilot project in the field of consumer lending with the main contribution of Jana Gutierrez Chvalkovská, Petr Teplý as manager of the project and prof. Mejstřík as the supervisor. The study 2014 and 2015 was led by Matěj Urban with the back up of prof. Mejstřík. You can find the main results here or the complete study here (only in Czech).
