RIA for the Cinematography Act (2009)

In 2009 EEIP prepared for the Ministry of Culture a large RIA on the proposal of the Cinematography Act, which became annexed to the Concept of Czech Cinematography and Film Industry 2010-2016. RIA evaluates three main areas of the new Cinematography Act:

• financing (both funding Czech cinema as an artistic discipline and the financing of the film industry through incentives from the state),
• registration of audiovisual works and audiovisual operators,
• evaluation of the possibility of introducing classification of audiovisual works.

The RIA also addressed the transformation of some state institutions that are currently active in the field of cinematography and film industry. Sections devoted to the financing of the film industry through incentives from the state served as a basis for establishing a Program of Support for the Film Industry, prepared by the Ministry of Culture and approved by the Czech government of in October 2009.
