Investing in Health in the Czech Republic

EEIP prepared, within the project ” Investing in Health in the Czech Republic – Is it possible to increase by 2 the healthy life years of Czech population by 2020 ? And can we afford it?”, the study summarizing key facts about the development of indicators in the Czech health sector and analyzing data from the latest expert studies on the health status of the Czech population. The main aim of the project was to stimulate the debate and come with conclusions how to support the establishment of the sustainable system of healthcare provision in the Czech Republic and the implementation of programs contributing to improvement of life quality and healthy life years as no long-term policy exists in the Czech Republic that would reflect these goals.
The project responded to the EU pilot program “European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing”, which aims to increase by 2 the average number of healthy life years in the EU by 2020, and to, in 2011 issued, “Strategic Implementation Plan of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing” containing the first set of particular measures, which should be carried out to fulfill the set target.
