EEIP proposed competiveness strategy for Ostrava
25.01.2012: EEIP successfully presented a study “Competiveness strategy for the city of Ostrava until 2020” in a conference in Ostrava.
On 25 January 2012 Prof. Michal Mejstřík presented key findings of the study and highlighted that Ostrava has promising potential to become a centre of the most dynamic region in the Czech Republic. The study indentified 6 key pillars of the competitiveness of Ostrava: Environment and quality of life, Education, Transport and infrastructure, Employment, Social inclusion and Innovation. Based on these pillars three main axes of the Ostrava´s competitiveness were suggested: Innovations for clean and healthy Ostrava, IT4 Innovations and International Ostrava, and 14 projects were recommended to be undertaken to fulfil this strategy.
The EEIP´s study reflects key results of a document “Competitiveness Strategy for the Czech Republic” that was positively appreciated by the OECD. An official press release (in Czech) is available here.
